Santipur is a city and a municipality in Nadia distict in the Indian state of West Bengal. The main festival of Santipur is "Raas(Rash)" which is thought to have begun by Mathuresh Goswami, the great grandson of Advaita Acharya who was one of the main associates of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. 'Most of the deities with colorful dresses and golden ornaments take part in the procession at the night of "Bhanga Rash". The deities and "Rairaja" of Santipur are very glamorous items of Rash. There is a unique form of celebrating Kali worship in the form of hand painted image of the deity known as "Poteshwari" meaning drawing of the deity on a piece of cloth. The deity is worshipped for 3 days during the "Raas Utsaab." The second day of worship is marked by the sacrifice of a goat. It is then incorporated into the many festive meals and shared with the community until the festival ends. Famous Krishna Temples are : Baro Gosai,Pagla Gosai, Gokulchand, Madangopal, Shyamchand Mandir, Chakfera,Ataboney,Bansboney etc

Its a pleasure to visit this blog....very good initiative...beautiful photographs...but sorry to say that,the particular white deity of Radha Krishna is not the deity of Bijoy Krishna Goswami House....in this house there is a deity which is black with red bordered eyes,known as Shyamsundar Jiu....so pls do tge necessary correction...Joi Gosain
